Mrs. Fixit: Hang A Decorative Curtain Rod

October 30, 2011

Most decorative rods will come with a substaintial bracket that will hold the curtain rod itself. If your moldings aren't anything speical adding these brackets on the outside of the casing will add architectural detail to your home.

If you have beautiful moldings, use the rods to highlight them and draw attention to those details.

In my case, I am going to mount these brackets right on the casing to highlight th emolding above. Mark the location of the screws. Drill pilot holes to make sure that your hardware sits flush and secure.

Measure and cut your decorative rod to size.

Finials act as both stops and decoration for the end of the curtains. Screw one finial into place and slip curtain rings onto the rod. Screw the second finial in place and hang the rod in place on the brackets.

Install drapery pins on the back of the panels and slip them into place on the rod.

Decorative curtain rods giving your windows a stunning new look! I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
