David Boreanaz returns home for movie premiere

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - October 14, 2011

The Kimmel Center hosted the red carpet premiere of the movie "The Mighty Macs."

The movie stars Philadelphia's own, David Boreanaz, who is the son of retired Action News weather anchor Dave Roberts.

Boreanaz said, "Shooting the film in Philadelphia was a great experience, brought the family back and had a great time and coming back home and being able to see the film premiere here in Philadelphia is just fantastic."

"The Mighty Macs" is based on a true story of the 1971-72 Immaculata University women's basketball team.

The girls went from barely making the national tournament to winning it all.

It follows the story of its head coach, Cathy Rush who was also at tonight's premiere.

Director Tim Chambers calls the movie a true Cinderella story.

"When you look at the modern day women's basketball if you trace its roots back to where did it all begin its going to lead you to this tiny campus in suburban Philly at Immaculata university and this great group of girls and their coach Cathy Rush and the legacy of what they accomplished," said Chambers.

"Mighty Macs" opens in theaters nationwide on October 21st.
