Police: Assault rifle used in Bensalem kidnapping

BENSALEM, Pa. - October 17, 2011

Corey Todd, 22, of the 1000 block of Cloverdale Road in Bensalem and 23-year-old Vincent Burton of the 4700 block of Neshaminy Boulevard in Bensalem are charged with kidnapping, unlawful restraint, possession of an AR-15 assault rifle and related offenses.

Police say it began when the victim took a phone call, in which someone asked her to provide contact information for a drug dealer.

A short time later, the woman was walking down Station Avenue off of Route 13 when Todd allegedly forced her into a car.

Police say Burton was already in the vehicle, dressed in a black ski mask and black clothes, holding the AR-15 across his chest.

While driving, however, the victim was able to tell them she had texted her boyfriend. Police say that boyfriend then called police.

Investigators say they do not know why Todd and Burton kidnapped the woman, but think they may have planned to rob the drug dealer and/or harm the woman.

Both suspects were arraigned and sent to prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.
