Suspect arrested in NJ bank robbery, shooting

HAMILTON, N.J. - October 17, 2011

Jeffrey Garrett Jr. is accused of robbing the JP Morgan Chase Bank in Hamilton Township on August 23rd.

The U.S. Marshal's Office says he was arrested on Monday in Jacksonville, Florida.

On that day in August, police say Garrett carjacked a man in Trenton, shooting him and stuffing him in the trunk.

Garrett then allegedly used that car to drive to the bank.

Authorities say Garret entered the bank, waived and pointed a silver pistol at the teller and fired.

Police say Garrett then left the bank in the stolen car, but abandoned it at a nearby mall. The driver was able to escape from the trunk and survived.

The teller has also recovered from her wounds.

Police believe Garrett also robbed the same bank in November 2010.
