John Perzel testifies in Pa. corruption trial

HARRISBURG, Pa. - October 18, 2011

The Philadelphia resident spent less than four hours on the witness stand in a trial now in its fourth week

Perzel testified that former Rep. Brett Feese - one of the two defendants - had to have known that taxpayers' money was being illegally spent to bolster Republican candidates, saying it was common knowledge among top House GOP caucus officials.

He described former Rep. Feese as a "hands-on manager" during three years as chairman of the House Republican Campaign Committee.

Perzel has pleaded guilty to eight felony counts. Six others have also pleaded guilty.

Feese and his former aide Jill Seaman are on trial for theft, conspiracy, conflict of interest, hindering apprehension and obstruction.
