Winter coat giveaway

CHESTER, Pa. - October 21, 2011

Thanks to the non-profit City Team and Auto Dealerships across the region, Ebony Wimbush has a coat for her 11 month old Ariel and her two children back at home.

"The coats are like $40 and $50 for my son, and he's 11.....and my 3 year old $25....it's a deal," said Ebony Wimbush of Chester, Pa.

The dealerships have been helping CityTeam make this happen for the last 4 years, even when the economy has been hard on them.

David Kelleher of David Dodge Chrysler Jeep Glen Mills said, "A couple years ago it was really tough to come up with the money to do this ....makes us feel great."

Wanda Dixon is the coordinator of the program in Chester.

She says once she was on the receiving end and now she's happy to be the one giving back.

"I have 9 children had to swallow my pride and realize they had a need...give that same dignity and pride back to the moms," said Dixon.

For everyone involved, it's the reaction from the children receiving the new coats that make it all worthwhile.

"I think we get our blessings returned when we see the look in the kids face. It's really a special time," said Kelleher.

" I love to hear children's laughter ...I love it," added Dixon.

Todays coat giveaway in Chester will keep 330 children warm this winter season.
