Firefighters find man's body inside NJ home

SEWELL, N.J. - October 29, 2011

It's not yet known what caused the fire that heavily damaged the Washington Township home on Friday night.

The house is located at 133 Berlin-Cross-Keys Road. Gloucester County officials said Saturday that squatters often stayed at the residence, which was filled with trash and debris.

The cause of death was determined to be from smoke inhalation, the coroner ruled after an autopsy on Saturday. Firefighters found the body shortly after they responded to the home around 9:30 p.m., after a passing motorist had called 911 to report the fire. The man's identity was not immediately known.
