Construction worker struck in Del. hit and run

PRICES CORNER - November 3, 2011

Authorities say the incident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. as 34-year-old Andrew Ramos, a road worker for A-Del Construction Company, was placing construction barrels on Kirkwood Highway westbound in the area of RT 141, setting up a construction zone for ongoing road work.

As Ramos was placing the barrels near the right shoulder, he was struck from behind by a vehicle described as a white Ford Pickup Truck (F-150/F-250), authorities say.

The truck then fled westbound on Kirkwood Highway.

Ramos was transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say Ramos was wearing a reflective vest and helmet while working in the construction zone.
