28-year-old Patrolman Shawn Kitson succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Lourdes Hospital Emergency Room with extensive head trauma.
Police say the one-car accident occurred around 6:17 a.m. on Pemberton Browns Mills Road.
The details of the crash are still under investigation by the Pemberton Township Police, with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Patrolman Kitson was off-duty at the time of the crash.
He is survived by his wife and 2-year-old son.
