Part of NJ Turnpike reopens after tanker blast

Part of the New Jersey Turnpike has reopened hours after a gasoline tanker truck crash and explosion on the western spur.

Emergency construction closed the northbound lanes between Interchange 15W in Kearny to Interchange 18W in Carlstadt.

Southbound lanes reopened earlier Tuesday.

The detour caused delays on the eastern spur.

The tanker, carrying 8,500 gallons of fuel, erupted after colliding with a minivan Monday night.

State police say no one was seriously injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
