Man shot in head outside Ardmore bar

ARDMORE, Pa. - November 15, 2011

Witnesses say it was around 7:00 p.m. that they began to hear people arguing outside Hykel's Bar and Grille in the 2700 block of County Line Road. They say the arguing was soon followed by gunshots.

"All I heard was fighting outside and then heard about four loud shots, heard some screeching, got up to look, and saw some people chasing cars outside and a lot of yelling," one witness told Action News.

Police say the gunman was sitting in a Toyota SUV, possibly gray in color, when he fired four shots at a man police believe was the intended target.

"As far as we know right now, he was standing in front of the bar and he received one bullet above his eyebrow," Haverford Township Police Chief Carmen Pettine said.

The gunman then sped off in the SUV.

Officials say the victim was grazed by a 9mm bullet which lodged under his skin of his forehead.

Action News captured exclusive video of the victim speaking to police. Police say he was treated and released from Lankenau Hospital.

Another bullet broke through the glass of the bar and landed just a few feet from where some patrons were dining. No one inside was injured.

Police are still trying to sort out the details of the shooting and what led to it.
