Victims ID'd, suspect arrested in auto parts shooting

WOODLYNNE, N.J. - November 30, 2011

Authorities identify the fatal victim as 35-year-old Angel Velasquez of Camden. The surviving victim has been identified as a 27-year-old Camden man.

24-year-old Alonzo Centeno of the 500 block of Bailey Street in Camden is charged with Murder in connection with the shooting at the Advance Auto Parts store on the 2200 block of Mt. Ephraim Avenue. He was ordered held on $1 million bail.

It is alleged Centeno was in a verbal dispute with Velasquez and another man outside the Advance Auto Parts about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Centeno is accused of shooting both men during the dispute.

Velasquez was shot in the head and fell in the business' parking lot. He was pronounced dead at Cooper Hospital.

The second victim ran to a barber shop on Maple Avenue and collapsed there. He remains in treatment at the hospital.

Centenno was arrested by Camden Police less than two hours after the shooting.
