It happened around 1:30 a.m. inside a home in the 7200 block of Ogontz Avenue.
Police say the 29-year-old victim was stabbed in the neck and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Her name has not been released pending notification of her family.
The 30-year-old suspect fled the scene and was later arrested by police.
Police are still trying to determine what led to the stabbing.
