5 HS students killed in central Pa. crash

NEW OXFORD, Pa. - December 6, 2011

The Adams County Coroner's Office on Tuesday identified the teens as Oscar Banda, 17; Chelsea McFalls, 15; and Casey Sheridan, Anthony Campos and Diego Aguilar, all 16. All five were students at New Oxford High School.

The teens were killed in a crash Monday afternoon not far from the school's campus when the car they were in crossed into the other lane and was hit by an oncoming pickup towing an empty livestock trailer.

The four occupants of the pickup, including an 8-month old boy, were uninjured.

The Conewago Valley School District will have counselors on hand to talk with students, many of whom vowed to wear school colors Tuesday in remembrance of the victims.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these students," Superintendent Daniel Trimmer said in a statement. "The immediate response of the staff of New Oxford High School is to support and comfort our student body as they deal with this horrible tragedy.

Residents who live near the crash scene said vehicles frequently speed in that area.

Police don't suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
