December 13, 2011

Ski resorts are now offering discounts to folks who book online before their trip.

So if you want to save money on the slopes - the most important thing is to buy your lift tickets in advance.. In fact, in most cases - the earlier you book before your trip, the more you'll save!

Some resorts offer their own specials directly to customers and guarantee you'll get the lowest price if you purchase directly from their websites in advance.

So if your resort has a site - check it first. But ALSO check websites like LINK and LINK - which promise amazing deals at hundreds of ski resorts. Many of them are in the Mid-Atlantic area. You can get 14% to 80% off! Beware, though. One of the catches may be that you can't cancel if the weather's bad or you don't end up using your ticket for other reasons.

Another money-saving tip: Some big discounts stores like Costco as well as local ski shops also offer discounted lift tickets.

Finally - you can also save by getting package deals and multi-day passes.

Experts say the one thing you should avoid is the ticket window. That's where you'll find the highest rates.
