Police say two men broke into a home on the 700 block of Danbury Drive in Whitpain Township.
The suspects startled the homeowner from his sleep, around 1:20 Saturday morning.
When the homeowner spotted the men, police say he grabbed his gun and shot at the men.
The men got away on foot.
Officers brought in canines to scour the area for any trace of the men.
Police have not said if they believe the men were wounded by the gunfire, or if they got away with anything.
