Atlantic City councilman sues over charges

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - December 21, 2011

Small claims investigators manipulated witnesses and recklessly disregarded their credibility to try to make their case.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the 28-page suit seeks to recoup legal fees and money to offset the stress Small suffered during the 13-month trial.

Small and four others were cleared in March of charges stemming from allegations that they tampered with absentee ballots during the 2009 Democratic primary campaign for Atlantic City mayor. Indictments against nine others were dropped in April.

Small lost the primary to Mayor Lorenzo Langford.
