Police: Pilot killed in small plane crash in Pa.

THOMASVILLE, Pa. (AP) - December 22, 2011

The crash happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Jackson Township, about two miles from the York Airport in Thomasville. Northern York County Regional Police say the pilot was a 38-year-old man from California and that he was the only person aboard. His name has not been released.

WHTM-TV reported that a witness saw a twin-engine plane approaching the airport lose power and spiral to the ground about a mile away. Lt. David Lash says three witnesses saw the plane in distress and called 911.

Lash says the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate, but won't likely arrive until Friday.
