Police ID suspect in Cheltenham Christmas homicide

CHELTENHAM, Pa. - December 27, 2011

Police say 24-year-old Rayshon Carwheel shot and killed 25-year-old Robens Borno as the victim wrapped presents with friends at a home in Cheltenham on Christmas early morning.

It was approximately 1:55 a.m. Sunday when police responded to a home in the 1400 Beech Avenue in Elkins Park. Arriving officers found Borno in the dining room having been shot multiple times. He was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he later died.

Investigators learned that the suspect's former girlfriend, and mother of his child, broke up with him in early December and then began a relationship with Borno.

Early Christmas morning, Borno, his girlfriend and her mother were sitting at the dining room table wrapping Christmas gifts at the Beech Avenue home when, witnesses say, Carwheel and another person, identified as Ezra Childs, appeared in the room with guns drawn.

Carwheel allegedly pointed his handgun at Borno and fired multiple shots. He then confronted Borno's girlfriend and said, "Oh, this is why you couldn't answer the phone."

Anyone having any information on the whereabouts of Rayshon Carwheel should call Cheltenham Police at 215-885-1600 Ext 499 or Montgomery County Detective Bureau at 610 278-3368.
