Parenting: New Year's Resolutions

On New Year's, we sat down with the kids and talked about our resolutions and how they might achieve their own. My daughters were quick to pick resolutions that surprised me. My middle child wanted to do a better job with diabetes. I already think she does an outstanding job of taking care of herself, but agreed that many people like to focus on health and fitness in the New Year. My oldest child really surprised me and said she wanted to exercise an hour a day. She's quite thin but is an athlete and wants to be in top shape for gymnastics and soccer.

Of course resolutions do not have any power unless you follow through. The best way to teach children to pursue their goals is to live by example. If you're looking for examples on how to teach children to realize their goals, check out the website below.
