The student who was killed in Monday's accident on Interstate 78 attended Ohio State University. Authorities have not released his name.
A second student was in critical condition and three others were listed in stable condition.
All five were between 19 and 21 years old.
The crash happened around 4 p.m. Monday when a Chevrolet Equinox veered off the road and crashed into trees and a light pole. Police blame driver fatigue.
