$380K spent on Harrisburg bankruptcy fight

HARRISBURG, Pa. - January 9, 2012

So far the city council, Mayor Linda Thompson, Dauphin County and state officials have spent $380,000 fighting over a bankruptcy petition filed by the council.

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg reports the council's attorney has submitted a bill for $90,000 while the mayor's office spent $120,000.

A federal judge has blocked the council's bankruptcy petition but the council is appealing those decisions.

More than $300 million in debt tied to an incinerator renovation project prompted the failed bankruptcy filing and a state takeover of the city's finances.
