On Sunday, an 18-year-old Pizza Hut delivery driver was lured to an abandoned home on the 100 block of Ashland Avenue in Lawnside and attacked.
He was hit several times with a blunt object and the two male robbers stole the cash out of his pockets.
Yesterday, police believe the thieves struck again a few blocks away.
Tarek Bahgat, the owner of Seasons Pizza, says one of his drivers was robbed on North King Street around 6:30 p.m..
"Saddened to see this happening on our streets, especially in an area like the one it happened in. We deliver there like three or four times a day; we've never had an incident, we've never had any problem," Bahgat said.
Resident Mary Gould,a former pizza delivery woman herself, lives on the street.
"That's embarrassing because this is a safe street and there are five houses on the whole block," Gould said.
The Seasons Pizza driver was not hurt, but the young Pizza Hut deliveryman was beaten so badly, he's still in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital.
"It's not unusual anywhere. It does happen. Delivery people are robbed. It's not an unusual occurrence. What is unusual is the violence," Jason Laughlin of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.
Seasons Pizza has made changes and suspended service to the area where its driver was robbed.
Police say delivery drivers need to be mindful of their surroundings. Gould says that's a shame.
"It's a shame because they're out here trying to make a living and everywhere you go you have to be scared to deliver a stupid pizza. It's ridiculous," Gould said.
The victims didn't get a good look at the two robbers who are possibly young men.
Late Tuesday, Action News learned there was a robbery arrest in nearby Somerdale.
A prosecutor's office spokesperson says, at this point, it isn't known if the man arrested is connected to the pizza delivery robberies.
