The shooting took place shortly after 6:30 p.m. on the 900 block of West 27th Street.
Police say someone opened fire on a man on the street, striking him in the thigh and hand.
He was rushed by medics to Christiana Hospital where he underwent surgery. Police say his injuries don't appear life threatening.
Police have not ruled out robbery as a possible motive.
Authorities also say gunfire pierced the home of a couple that was inside with at least one young child.
No one in the house was injured.
The suspect is still being sought.
