NC college on lockdown after report of armed man

RALEIGH, N.C. - January 24, 2012

School spokeswoman Laurie Clowers said Wake Technical Community College is coordinating with sheriff's deputies to determine the seriousness of the threat Tuesday.

Students and staff at the school's sprawling main campus have been told to lock themselves in their offices and classrooms until they receive an all clear.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens says deputies are on the scene and investigating after the call came in shortly before 9 a.m.

Wake Tech has five campus locations and two academic centers, enrolling more than 63,000 students.
