Atlantic City blocks beaches because of erosion

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - January 25, 2012

Officials have set up barricades between Pennsylvania and Rhode Island Avenues until a beach replenishment project is completed.

The Army Corps of Engineers pumped 280,000 cubic yards of sand after Tropical Storm Irene fives months ago at a cost of $10.3 million.

Atlantic City Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Foley tells The Press of Atlantic City it's dangerous because a person could walk right off a cliff at night.
