It happened near Cottman Avenue shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Initial reports indicate that the truck overturned and lead both lanes of the highway to be shutdown.
The occupants - a 68-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman - were freed from the vehicle and rushed to Hahnemann Hospital.
Both victims were deemed trauma alerts with stable vital signs during transit.
A second vehicle was towed from the scene but it's not clear what role it played in the crash.
The highway has since reopened but the accident remains under investigation.
