Sprucing up Atlantic City goal of tourism plan

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - January 31, 2012

A plan expected to be adopted Wednesday by a newly empowered state agency tasked with turning Atlantic City around aims to narrow - and eventually eliminate - the gap between the two.

The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority will vote on a master plan for the tourism district, encompassing the casinos, the Boardwalk, shopping areas and the former Bader Field airport site. The goal is to present a cleaner, safer, more inviting resort, particularly in the struggling areas away from the casinos.

Atlantic and Pacific avenues, the two main downtown streets, will get particular attention.
