"He was on the second floor, middle bedroom on his back, bound and gagged with duct tape in the mouth, the wrist and the feet," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
Investigators say it appears the killer or killers broke a kitchen window to enter through the back of the home.
They believe the motive was robbery since the house had been ransacked.
"We're not sure why this individual was killed, but homicide investigators are...processing the scene and we'll find out as much as we can about the victim's background," Small said.
Investigators tell Action News the victim was shot twice, once in the upper left shoulder and once in the right side hip.
They say he was also severely beaten in the head.
According to authorities, the victim tried to put up a fight, but couldn't survive the gunshot wounds and the severe beating.
As police searched for clues, emotional family and friends gathered outside the home.
They say the victim's name is Sophos Siv who made money by transporting people to their jobs.
Siv's mother approached Action News and, as another son translated, she made a plea.
"She said, 'Why they suffer her son, why they stab my son, all he do is just doing for living,'" Siv's brother Sophol translated for their mother.
