Pennsylvania State Police say it all began 9:18 p.m. Saturday night at Garnet Mine Road at Bethel Road in Bethel Township.
That's where, police said, 18-year-old Jake Smith of Chadds Ford was pulled over for a traffic violation and then arrested for driving under the influence.
Smith was taken to the police barracks in Media, Pa. It was there, police say, that Smith's father, Timothy Smith, came to pick him up.
The trooper on duty said he detected a strong odor of alcohol on the elder Smith, who allegedly admitted to driving from his home in Chadds Ford to the PSP barracks while under the influence.
Timothy Smith was then arrested for DUI.
This incident echoes a similar story that made headlines this week out of Altoona, Pa. In that case, police say 44-year-old David Peterson Sr. came to a police station to pick up his son, 24-year-old David Peterson Jr., who was arrested for DUI. The elder Peterson was arrested after arriving at a police station to pick up his son.
