It's a program called "Screenwise" that the company says is intended to "improve Google products and services and make a better online experience for everyone."
Google data-crunchers want to gather as much information about how people surf the web, so they're offering $25 to track you online for one year.
You will get a $5 Amazon.com gift card when you sign up. Then, for every 3 months you let Google track your web browsing activity on their Chrome browser, you'll get another $5. According to the Google site, "It's our way of saying 'Thank you.'"
The offer to join the program is currently closed, apparently because early demand was so strong the company reached its target quickly.
