Passers-by aid man during robbery in Del.

STANTON, Del. - February 14, 2012

The robbery happened just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday outside the Stanton Pharmacy, located in the 2000 block of W. Newport Pike.

Witnesses say the suspect, identified by police as William H. Hinckle, 28, of Bear, tried to take medications the 48-year-old victim had just picked up from the pharmacy.

The victim struggled and the two fell to the ground, police said. Hinckle allegedly grabbed the medication and tried to flee.

That's when passers-by and the owner of a nearby shop intervened, catching the suspect and held him for police.

As the Good Samaritans struggled to hold the man until police arrived a woman, believed to be the suspect's girlfriend, rushed in and tried to get the men to release him. However, police arrived before that could happen and took the suspect into custody.

The victim refused medical attention.

Hinckle was arrested and charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree.
