Police: Valley Forge cadet assaults fellow student

RADNOR, Pa. - February 14, 2012

Nineteen-year-old Jerrell McEachin, of Philadelphia, was charged last week with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault and other charges.

Radnor Township police say it was around 3:40 p.m. when they were called to a campus dorm on Feb. 8. - approximately 45 minutes after the alleged assault.

A female cadet told responding officers that she, McEachin, and a second male cadet were alone in a dorm area inside Younghusband Hall. The second male cadet left to use the bathroom, and that is when the victim said McEachin began suggesting she have sex with him.

The victim said when she refused McEachin's advances, he pulled out his penis and put it on her face. She told police she then pushed him away, but that he forced himself into her mouth. Again she pushed him away and stood up. That's when he allegedly grabbed her and began kissing her and sucking on her neck.

The victim again pushed him away, and that's when the other cadet returned to the room. McEachin allegedly claimed nothing happened.

The victim gave police a verbal and written statement saying that she did not want to have oral sex with McEachin. Officers then took Jerrell McEachin into custody and transported him to Radnor Police Department.

While in custody, McEachin admitted to having oral sex with the alleged victim.

McEachin was released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday was continued until next month.

Attorney Andrew Gay says he's preparing the defense for McEachin, who he called "an extraordinarily respectful young man."

A statement from the school says it does not tolerate behavior that jeopardizes the safety of its cadets.
