Spurned Pa. woman sentenced in NJ house fire

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - February 18, 2012

Shanta Dargbeh of Bristol Township was 19 when she set the May 2008 fire in Trenton. The eight people inside the residence - two adults and six children - escaped unharmed, but the home was destroyed.

Dargbeh was acquitted of attempted murder and aggravated assault charges last December. But the Mercer County jury convicted her of arson, burglary and weapons offenses.

The 22-year-old Dargbeh must serve 51 months of the sentence imposed Friday before becoming eligible for parole. But she has already served nearly four years, so she could be freed in six months.
