Fifty-one-year-old Alvin George White Jr. had sued the Lawrence County Jail and the guard who recorded the video on his cell phone, seeking $1 million in damages for "mental issues" he claimed to suffer from being involuntarily recorded and posted on YouTube.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Tuesday that U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisa Lenihan dismissed White's lawsuit.
Among other things, the judge wrote in her opinion that "Incarcerated persons have no right of privacy in prison. Plaintiff's incarceration is a matter of public record" so revealing that in an online video doesn't violate his rights.
