POLL: Do you fear being without a cell phone?

February 22, 2012

The research company OnePoll surveyed 1,000 working people in the United Kingdom.

The results showed 66% of them "fear losing or being without their mobile phone." That is up from 53% in the group's first survey which was conducted 4 years ago.

The research also showed that women worry about losing their phones more than men (70% of women vs. 61% of men). Also, young people between 18-24 are the most "nomophobic" at 77%, followed by the 25-34 age group at 68%. But, then the senior set jumps up, with people 55+ being the 3rd most "nomophobic" group.

Keep in mind, that people in many European countries have the ability to use their cell phones as digital wallets and can perform electronic transactions with them at retailers and vending machines.

The study was sponsored by SecurEnvoy, a company that makes money by providing security apps and software.
