Sources tell Action News a man shot himself on an I-95 ramp in Delaware County after a police chase.

Medics were called at 11:35 a.m. to the southbound I-95 ramp to Route 452 in Upper Chichester, Pa.

When medics arrived the Pennsylvania State Police were already on the scene with a person inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound.

Sources tell Action News that state police attempted to stop the unidentified male in Philadelphia for a traffic violation.

The driver then fled and led police on a chase along I-95. His vehicle then struck a pole on the ramp and came to a stop.

That's when, police say, the man pulled out a weapon and shot himself.

The male has been taken to Crozer-Chester hospital in unknown condition. State police are working to ID the male and run some background information on him.

Police say another person in the car tried to run from the vehicle but was captured by police.
