2012 Flower Show opens Sunday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - March 1, 2012

The Philadelphia International flower Show opens Sunday and runs through next weekend.

You'll find this year's edition even more "warming" than usual with the theme, "Hawaii: Islands of Aloha".

Designer and executive director Sam Lemheney is back for his eighth consecutive show. He says this edition is more enjoyable than prior years, but also more challenging.

Local growers have worked for months producing tropical blooms, supplemented by one of the world's largest orchid producers.

The tropical theme has exhibitors working to create the feel of the ocean, building a waterfall, even creating a beach wedding scene...all for you to experience and enjoy. As usual, the show will have educational exhibits. And, as always, proceeds benefit Pennsylvania Horticultural Society programs that help Philadelphia year-round.

The money goes to education and community gardening programs, some of which raise food families might not be able to buy otherwise.

Hawaii Tourism is represented, and you'll be able to inquire about booking a vacation in the islands right on the spot.

This year's show also relies on multi-media projection to an unprecedented degree. You can check show hours and even buy tickets online at 2012 Flower Show

.

The show will be open sunday from 8:00am to 9:30pm, every day this coming week from 10:00am to 9:30pm, next Saturday from 8:00am to 9:30pm and Sunday, March 11th...closing day...from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

The Flower Show is the largest single event of the year at the Convention Center, drawing an estimated 250,000 visitors.

People come from all over the world to see it. It is the largest flower show in the world.
