One resident, Debra Hill, says the odor that blanketed the area Sunday night was similar to strong onions and garlic. She says it gave her a runny nose and burned her sinuses and eyes, and she says she saw one neighbor vomit.
Fire department spokesman Capt. Jorge Enriquez tells The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/x6HvTB) a hazardous materials crew initially thought the odor was coming from a propane company, but they are no longer sure that's the source.
The fire department has also ruled out natural gas.
Enriquez says the matter may be handed over to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
