2-alarm fire destroys West Phila. businesses

PHILADELPHIA - March 5, 2012

At around 10:15 p.m. the Philadelphia Fire Department was called out to the 3900 block of Parrish Street for the report of a fire.

When they arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the roof of an oil company.

They then called for a second alarm.

Additional firefighters were called to the scene because of reports of an oil tanker possibly on fire inside.

HAZMAT crews were also called to the scene.

The fire spread from the first business to a roofing company.

Witnesses tell action news part of the roof on that business collapsed.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries on the scene. He is expected to be OK.
