Center City bar open for business after quadruple stabbing

CENTER CITY - March 6, 2012

Police say it was around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday when a fight erupted inside the bar, located on the 1400 block of Arch Street.

During the melee four males, all in their 20s, received stab wounds. Three of the men were stabbed in the back and the fourth was stabbed in the hand. At this hour, they are reportedly in stable condition at two different hospitals.

Police say the victims were rushed to the hospital by private vehicle after the fight spilled from the bar and out onto Arch Street.

The knife-weilding suspect fled the scene on foot.

The bar, located just one block from City Hall, has existed under one name or another for ages. It used to be known as The Top Shelf. Big Bang's daytime manager Augusta Mason was not working last night, but said she was surprised by the violence because the bar is normally quiet.

Police did take some surveillance video from the bar, but so far they have not released the video to the media.

There is no word yet on what triggered the fighting.
