The fire broke out at about 12:45 a.m. Friday on the 200 block of West Chester Pike in Ridley Park.
The officer pulled the dog out of the fire, but ended up trapped for a few frightening minutes on the balcony.
He and the dog were rescued, and they are fine.
The fire started in the kitchen and spread through the second floor.
There were no injuries, and there's no word on what caused the fire.
