Neighbors furious after tires slashed in Kensington

KENSINGTON - March 9, 2012

The latest spree happened overnight in the 700 block of East Cornwall Street in Kensington. Neighbors tell Action News nearly one dozen cars were hit.

Victims discovered the vandalism around 5:00 a.m. as they prepared to go to work.

"I look at my tires as I'm getting my child ready for school and I can't go nowhere," said Marquita Cook. "I don't have money to get tires fixed. This is ridiculous, these people are crazy."

New tires will set these victims back hundreds of dollars. Synobia Veny can't get her children to school and daycare - and she can't get to her job.

"It's devastating. I keep on missing work all the time. I have to call out, I have to get my daughter to school," said Veny.

The district police commander feels the pain of the victims and said his people are on the case.

Capt. Frank Vanore said it appears someone "walked down and used some kind of cutting object and damaged tires all the way from F to G street."
