Officers say 27-year old Nia Rainey left her two young children and a neighbor's child alone at her Northway Drive apartment while she went shopping Saturday afternoon.
Police say Rainey was supposed to be babysitting the neighbor's child.
The children ranged in ages from 8 years old to a one year old.
Rainey returned home and was immediately taken into custody without incident.
The Division of Family Services was notified and the children were temporarily placed in the custody of family members pending their investigation.
Rainey was arrested and charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
She was arraigned and released on $1500 unsecured bond and was ordered to have no unlawful contact with the children.
