Police: AK-47 used to kill 2 ATV-riding teens in Hunting Park

HUNTING PARK - March 12, 2012

It happened at 7:54 p.m. Monday.

That's when Philadelphia police and medics were called to the 2900 block of North 9th Street for the report of a double shooting.

Officers arrived to find Dexter Bowie, 17, and Jonathan Stokely, 18, both shot multiple times.

Both teens were taken to Temple University Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Investigators say they found more than 30 shell casings on 9th Street from an AK-47 and a 9mm handgun.

Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark said the teens were riding an ATV when two men fired at them. Both suspects then fled on foot.

Police say the ATV found at the scene is reported stolen out of northern Pennsylvania.

A $40,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the two gunmen.
