Toni Morrison tells Ohioans she won't write memoir

OBERLIN, Ohio (AP) - March 15, 2012

Local media outlets reports the Nobel laureate met with students and presented a reading Wednesday at Oberlin College from her latest novel, "Home." The Toni Morrison Society that researches her works used the visit to announce the establishment of a residency at the school.

The Plain Dealer reports that Morrison, a native of nearby Lorain, says she signed a contract for her next book to be a memoir but later canceled it, saying she'd rather write fiction.

The 81-year-old Morrison, in a wheelchair, says she doesn't travel well and called it a "double bonus" that she was able to see family during her visit.
