Pa. man jailed on charges he raped infatuated girl

NEW CASTLE, Pa. - March 16, 2012

Online court records don't list an attorney for Shawn Cox, 41, of New Galilee.

State police say their investigation was hampered and delayed because the girl was infatuated with Cox and didn't want him to be prosecuted or jailed. Police say Cox told them during an interview nearly two years ago that he had sexual contact with the girl, but claimed she pursued the relationship with him by writing him love notes.

Cox remained in the Lawrence County Jail on Friday, unable to post bond on charges including rape of a child and corruption of minors.
