DNA links 3 State College rape cases to 1 man

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - March 16, 2012

The crimes occurred between August 2010 and April 2011 near the Penn State campus. Police say in each case, a college-age woman walking alone on a street in the Highlands neighborhood was raped by a man she didn't know.

State College police Chief Tom King said Thursday that DNA evidence from each rape was sent to a state police lab for testing and police recently learned that all are from the same man.

King said it's possible the man has left the area, almost a year after the last reported rape. But his DNA is now in a database.

Police think there could be additional victims and they hope they will come forward.
