3 wanted in Del. postal worker robbery

BEAR, Del. - March 16, 2012

It happened around noon in the Villages of Crofton community – a route she has worked for several years.

The victim says the attack happened moments after she got out of her truck and the thieves were only interested in the boxes she was getting ready to deliver.

Three men approached her and she was beaten by one of the men with a gun.

"I said are you okay and she said 'no I'm not okay, I just got robbed,'" said Calvin Griffin, a witness.

Griffin drove up moments after the robbery.

The victim says she was filling the mailboxes when she turned around and realized someone was in her mail truck.

"She said 'stop get out of my mail truck' and they said 'no I'm taking your stuff' and she said 'no you can't do that' and then the person shows her the gun and the guy supposedly hits her over the head," said Griffin.

The attacker and possibly two other men got away in separate cars with several boxes.

The victim was rushed to Christiana Hospital where she was checked out and released.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service says at this point the crime is under investigation and it doesn't have many details to release.
