Three teenage boys have been charged with assault for allegedly attacking a SEPTA bus driver.
Police tape marked off the area near 54th Street and Greenway Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia just before 2:00pm Saturday afternoon.
Officers say the three teens, ages 16 and 17, got on the bus at 52nd and Chestnut Streets. While on the bus the teens engaged in what is described as "rude and outlandish behavior".
As they were exiting the bus at 5400 Greenway Avenue one of the teens allegedly grabbed the bus driver and pulled him off the bus onto the pavement. Police say they beat the driver in the face.
The teens fled southbound on Greenway Avenue. A short time later police stopped three juveniles at 5400 Paschall Avenue and took them into custody.
The 45-year-old victim was taken to Mercy Hospital where he received stitches to his forehead. Police say he may also have suffered a broken nose.
The teenagers are charged with Aggravated Assault and related offenses.
Police credit residents with helping them catch the teens.
